Are you looking for a fast-paced, impactful role that keeps the City moving? Green Bay Metro is seeking a Dispatcher to dispatch buses, monitor radio communications, answer phone and departmental radio inquiries, verify bus operator schedules and compile daily operational statistics.
Hiring Rate: $26.07 per hour
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Every 3rd week a Monday is scheduled off and a Saturday is worked from 6:30 a.m.-1:45 p.m. Also in rotation for home Packer game day routes. Schedule may be adjusted to meet department needs.
No residency requirement.

- Opens and/or closes Green Bay Metro Information Center.
- Prepares the Bus Operators’ daily schedule. Verifies that Bus Operators arrive on time for work. Reassigns Bus Operators as needed, in accordance with department procedures. Calculates and verifies Bus Operators’ hours.
- Enters weekly payroll for Metro employees.
- Advises Bus Operators with respect to unexpected detours and provides communication in emergency situations, in accordance with policy.
- Monitors and tracks all radio communications.
- Answers phone, in-person, and departmental radio inquiries.
- Utilizes the Automatic Vehicle Locator (AVL) system to verify real-time location of buses within route and to provide route information to passengers.
- Monitors and makes decisions as necessary to assist in maintaining on-time performance of bus routes.
- Sells bus passes to the public and assists with trip planning.
- Provides customer service and ticket sales for intercity buses, based on current agreement.
- Dispatches for all home National Football League (NFL) games and assists at Lambeau Field for post-game service.
- Responsible for Lost and Found Program, per department procedures.
- Assists in counting farebox revenue.
- Performs general calculations and related duties. Compiles daily operational statistics and enters into the computer (i.e. transfers, mileage, revenue, ridership and leave time slips).
- Ensures Metro Alerts are posted and removed in a timely manner.
- Assists in taking ridership surveys.
- Provides work relief assistance to the Dispatchers and other office personnel, including filling in during vacation and sick leave.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1-3 years related dispatching experience, with data entry and customer service experience.
- 1-3 years experience working with individuals with special needs.
- Successful completion of courses in general office skills desirable.
- Valid driver's license and a good driving record.
A combination of equivalent experience and/or education may be considered.
- Sufficient knowledge of general office practices and procedures to perform clerical duties and to provide relief to other office personnel. Sufficient knowledge of bookkeeping procedures and arithmetic calculations to perform simple bookkeeping duties and compile various reports and operational statistics. Sufficient knowledge of City streets to provide information and answer inquiries regarding bus routes. Knowledge of general filing procedures.
- Sufficient skill in the operation of a variety of office machines necessary to the performance of the job including a computer, photocopier, telephone, radio, cash register, etc. Skill in data entry.
- Ability to work independently. Ability to work in fast-paced multi-tasking situations. Ability to work effectively with the broad spectrum of individuals encountered in the general public by the transit system. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public. Ability to utilize a computer and the required software. Ability to work the required hours of the position.
May be required to demonstrate minimum competency by successfully passing approved tests.
