Position: Janitor (Part-Time)
Salary and Hours: Starting rate between $16.00 and $19.00 per hour, depending on qualifications. This position is expected to work on Mondays and Fridays for approximately 4 to 6 hours per week. Specific work hours may be adjusted based on facility needs and scheduling.
Description: The City of Grant is now accepting applications for a part-time janitor position. This position is responsible for routine cleaning, custodial work, and light facility maintenance in City-owned buildings and public facilities. The position helps ensure that City facilities remain clean, safe, sanitary, and presentable for employees, residents, visitors, and community groups.
Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include cleaning offices, meeting rooms, hallways, restrooms, kitchen areas, public spaces, and other assigned areas. Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, disinfecting surfaces, emptying trash, restocking paper products and supplies, cleaning windows and fixtures, assisting with room setup and cleanup for meetings or events, and reporting maintenance concerns or safety issues to the supervisor. Other related duties may be assigned.
Requirements: Eligible applicants must be a minimum age of 18 years old. Prior janitorial, custodial, cleaning, or facility maintenance experience is preferred, but not required. Applicants should be reliable, detail-oriented, able to work independently, and able to follow written and verbal instructions. Applicants must be able to work well with supervisors, coworkers, City staff, and the public. A valid driver’s license may be required if duties involve travel between City facilities.
Conditions: The duties of this position will be primarily performed indoors in City buildings and facilities. The position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying. The employee may be required to lift and move cleaning supplies, trash bags, tables, chairs, and other items generally weighing 50 pounds or less. The employee may also be required to use cleaning products and basic custodial equipment.
Applicants may be subject to a physical, drug testing, criminal history check, and other background review due to access to City facilities.
