This is technical work assuring the proper and effective operation of a water treatment or pumping plant on an assigned shift. Work is performed under the general supervision of a shift supervisor or other supervisor or superintendent.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
- Assures the proper effective operation of the water treatment or pumping plant on an assigned shift.
- Makes periodic rounds of treatment plant observing operating conditions and recording meter and gauge readings; takes water samples and performs laboratory tests.
- Records data from meters, gauges, control panels; adjusts chemical feed as instructed.
- Backwashes filters and cleans basins, handles bleach in a safe, effective manner and assures proper working order of sodium hypochlorite (bleach) related equipment.
- Adjusts fluoride feed pumps and records tank levels.
- Inspects and adjusts equipment.
- Cleans and maintains treatment plant, pumping stations and wells; prepares and paints equipment, walls, floors and the like; washes, waxes, buffs floors; empties trash; cleans and sanitizes bathroom fixtures, drinking fountain, sinks and the like; dusts furniture, shelves, counters and the like.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma (or GED equivalent)
- Experience related to water treatment activities
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience
- State of Michigan EGLE F-4 or S-4
