Evidence Technician
HIRING RANGE: $26.37 - $29.67 hourly
About the Position:
The Grand Junction Police Department is seeking an Evidence Technician to manage and maintain property and evidence collected during investigations. This role is responsible for handling a wide range of items from reports and records to sensitive evidence such as drugs, firearms, and biological materials ensuring everything is properly tracked, stored, and disposed of in accordance with policy. This position also supports records management, assists staff and attorneys with evidence access, and responds to public inquiries about property.
What You'll Do:
- Maintain custody of property and evidence collected at crime scenes such as drugs, money, firearms and other miscellaneous items.
- Arrange viewing for attorneys or other staff .
- Properly package and destroy items with biological and bio-hazard appropriately .
- Provide notifications and answer citizen inquiries over the telephone, email and/or in person regarding property dispositions.

This position is a safety sensitive position, which means you will be subject to random drug screens due to the nature of the work performed.
What We're Looking For:
- Two (2) years of experience in evidence collection and maintenance or related police support services experience.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado Driver’s License Flexibility to work a variety of days and shifts required.
