DEFINITION
Perform a variety of duties in the maintenance and grounds keeping of the City cemetery.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general supervision from an assigned supervisor. May receive technical and functional supervision from a Grounds Maintenance Crew Chief.
Exercises no supervision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Display honest, trustworthy, and ethical behavior when dealing with internal and external customers.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Regular attendance that is punctual and dependable is required.
Water, mow, weed, trim, sod, renovate and fertilize lawns; prune trees and shrubs; plant trees and shrubs; assist in snow removal operations.
Utilize a variety of hand and power tools, including mowers and weed eaters; assist in routine maintenance of such equipment; assist in opening/closing of graves.
May perform routine preventive maintenance on tools and equipment as assigned.
Utilize proper safety precautions in all work performed.
Perform landscape and maintenance duties of cemetery grounds and buildings.
May assist in other sections of the Department as necessary.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:Knowledge of:
Methods, techniques, and procedures related to assigned area of responsibility.
Uses of a variety of equipment, power tools and hand tools, and of general landscape and maintenance tools and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Proper safety precautions related to all work performed.
Ability to:
Perform tasks in a variety of maintenance activities.
Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
Work effectively in the absence of close supervision.
Assist in the training and supervision of others in the safe operation of equipment and performance of functions.
License or Certification:
None required.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:

Training:
Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
Working Hours:
Hours Monday through Saturday 7:00am - 4:00pm will vary depending on department needs but will include working days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
The duration of this position is April through the end of September.
Salary:
Position will start at the entry level of the City's salary table. Consideration may be given if experience exceeds entry level qualifications.
