Recreation Leader II - Recreation Attendant - Fitness

The City of Goodyear is seeking a motivated, customer-focused individual to join the Goodyear Recreation Center team as a Recreation Attendant - Fitness (Recreation Leader II). This part-time position is dedicated primarily to the fitness floor and plays a key role in creating a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment for members and guests.

The ideal candidate will have a background or strong interest in health and fitness, along with excellent customer service and communication skills. They will serve as a visible and approachable resource for patrons by greeting members, answering questions, providing fitness floor orientations and tours, promoting group fitness classes and wellness challenges, and helping members feel comfortable and confident using the facility.

This position is also responsible for supporting daily fitness operations by checking participants into group fitness classes, assisting instructors with class setup and breakdown, maintaining the cleanliness and organization of fitness equipment and program spaces, and consistently enforcing facility policies and safety standards. Building rapport with regular members, encouraging participation in fitness programs, and fostering a positive community atmosphere are essential aspects of the role.

The ideal candidate must also be able to professionally handle customer concerns, disputes, accidents, and incidents while exercising sound judgment and maintaining a high standard of customer service. They should demonstrate flexibility, initiative, and a willingness to assist with other duties as assigned by a supervisor.

• Monitor users in the weight room, indoor track, fitness studios, and other designated areas of the facility to promote safe practices.
• Greet patrons and provide excellent customer service.
• Maintain knowledge of GRC operations and programming to provide accurate information to participants.
• Assist patrons with registration for GRC fitness programs and group fitness classes.
• Conduct fitness floor orientations and facility tours.
• Clean and maintain fitness equipment, the fitness desk, indoor track, storage areas, and other designated fitness spaces.
• Assist participants with the checkout and return of equipment.
• Assist with the setup and breakdown of group fitness classes.
• Check in participants for group fitness classes.

• Minimum one-year experience in customer service preferred
• Background or strong interest in health and fitness preferred
• Strong communication skills
