The information below describes key areas of exposure and learning for Fire Cadets. Duties may vary based on department needs.

Are you at least 18 years of age?
Do you have a valid driver's license?
Do you have an EMT certification? (If yes is selected must attach certification)
If not an EMT, are you currently enrolled in an EMT class? (If yes is selected must attach proof of enrollment)
Are you available for 18 hours each month (10 ride-along, 8 department/community service)?
Can you attend a monthly 4-hour drill consisting of hands on training with Fire Department Mentors?
By my acceptance below, I certify that all statements made in this application are true and correct and that any false statements, misrepresentation, or omissions in the application may disqualify me for placement or result in dismissal at any time. I give permission for the City of Goodyear to conduct a background check on me, which may include a review of sex offender registries, MVD license check, fingerprinting, child abuse, criminal history records and substance abuse testing. I understand that, if appointed, my position is conditional upon the City receiving no inappropriate information on my background. I hereby release and agree to hold harmless from liability the City of Goodyear, its officers, agents, employees and volunteers, or any other person or organization that may provide such information. I further agree to release, hold harmless and indemnify the City of Goodyear, its officers, agents, employees and volunteers, from any and all liability or claims of injury or damages of any nature which may be incurred by me as a result of my voluntary participation in the City volunteer program. I understand that the work involved may include activities hazardous to the volunteer. I understand and agree that I am providing volunteer services hours for civic, charitable, or humanitarian reasons, without promise, expectation, or receipt of compensation for services rendered. I am offering my services freely and without pressure or coercion; and am not otherwise employed by the City of Goodyear to perform the same type of services as those for which I will be volunteering. I hereby grant and convey to the City of Goodyear all rights, title, and interest in any and all photographic images and video or audio recordings made by the City of Goodyear during the volunteer's activities with respect to the Program, including but not limited to, any royalties, proceeds or other benefits derived from such photographs or recordings.

Essential Functions

- Observe and assist with emergency medical service responses
- Support firefighters during emergency and non-emergency calls when appropriate
- Participate in community education activities such as fire safety demonstrations and station tours
- Assist with maintaining the station, vehicles, and equipment
- Perform administrative or operational support tasks such as organizing supplies, updating information, or preparing materials
- Participate in scheduled cadet training, skills development, and team meetings
- At least 18 years or older Valid Driver’s License
- 18 hours a month (10 ride-along, 8 department/community service)
- Attend a monthly 4-hour drill consisting of hands-on training with Fire Department Mentors
