About Us:
The City of Glendale's Transportation Department works to ensure safe and efficient travel for the people of Glendale.

The Role:
Under general supervision the Management Analyst performs a wide variety of analytical duties including special projects, research studies, budget analysis, procurement and other specialized functions; coordinates and performs a variety of contract and grant administration duties. Provides financial and statistical analysis and assists in the coordination, preparation, and analysis of the operating and capital improvement budgets.

The ideal candidate for the role will have an Associate Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field and three years of progressively responsible and related experience in preparing and monitoring budgets, researching and analyzing data, and/or project management

Salary and Hiring Bonus:
This position is a Grade 319 with an annual salary between $66,263-$99,395

Holiday, Vacation, and Sick Leave:
Regular status position’s offer:

  • The City of Glendale observes 10.5 holidays per year, and full-time employees are also granted an additional 12 hours of holiday special leave per calendar year to celebrate their cultural or religious holidays.
  • Vacation leave accrues at 5.33 hours per pay period (138 hours per year), and increases to 6.12 hours after 5 years, and to 7.6 hours after 10 years of service.
  • Sick leave accrues at 4.4 hours per pay period (114 hours per year).

Retirement:
  • This position participates in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).
  • Contribution is mandatory, and the current contribution rate is 12%.

  1. Participates in the development and administration of department, division and/or operating budget; analyzes proposed capital, operating, and maintenance expenditures; prepares reports and analysis related to impact of budgetary decisions; prepares financial forecasts; tracks and monitors budget expenditures.
  2. Track office or program expenditures by recording expenses, alerting management to budget overruns and unusual expenses. Maintain a variety of financial records such as petty cash, purchase orders, and check requisitions.
  3. Plans, coordinates, and evaluates activities associated with assigned contracts; participates in research and evaluation of proposed contractual obligations and agreements; assists in contract negotiations and administration; monitors compliance with applicable contractual agreements.
  4. Assists in planning, organizing, and researching grants for a division or department; monitors and evaluates information to determine compliance with prescribed standards and guidelines; writes and edits grant applications; tracks grant spending.
  5. Interprets data, identifies alternatives, and presents conclusions, forecasts, and recommendations based on data summaries and other findings.
  6. Coordinates, implements, and monitors special projects within assigned area of responsibility; performs complex research and analysis of new programs, services, policies, and procedures; prepares and presents reports.
  7. Assists in the coordination of interdepartmental and departmental activities with other City departments and divisions and with outside agencies.
  8. May supervise, provide direction to or oversee the work of less experienced staff.
  9. Monitors and ensures timely compliance with regulatory matters and reporting requirements.
  10. Represents the department by attending meetings and committees; presents information to staff, departments, and management.
  11. Represent and support internal and external department audit activities.
  12. Assists in reviewing and modifying Council Reports for the department.
  13. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Associate's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field and three years of progressively responsible and related experience in preparing and monitoring budgets, researching and analyzing data, and/or project management

Compute mathematical figures; make complex arithmetic computations and prepare statistical summaries
Prepare clear and concise administrative and financial reports
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Establish and maintain effective working relationships
Operate a computer and related software and demonstrate proficiency to prepare documents, spreadsheets, databases, reports, manuals, presentations, email and timesheets
