What are the responsibilities and job description for the FIELD SUPERVISOR I- SYSTMEMS MAINTENANCE position at City of Gastonia?
Performs difficult technical and skilled trades work supervising the installation, maintenance, repair, and construction of municipal water and sewer lines and related areas; does related work as required. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the assigned supervisor. Continuous supervision is exercised over assigned staff.
Special Requirements
OSHA Competent Person Trenching/Shoring and Confined Space Entry certification within 12 months of hire.
Intermediate Work Zone Safety and Flagger certifications within 12 months of hire
NIMS IS-700, IS-100, IS-200, and IS-300 training certificates within 12 months of hire.
NC Grade II Wastewater Collection System Operators Certification and Grade B Distribution System Operators Certification within 18 months of hire.
Obtain a NC Class A Commercial driver's license with Restriction 8 within three months of hire.
Physical Demands
Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. This factor is important if the amount and kind of climbing required exceeds that required for ordinary locomotion.

- Inspects water and sewer lines/taps, maintenance, construction, repair and installation and gives technical advice and assistance to crew chiefs 25%
- Coordinates the use of available equipment, materials and manpower to obtain maximum effectiveness and economy; Checks projects for progress and for conformance to work plans and orders 20%
