The Business Services Manager plays a key leadership role in overseeing the operational, financial, and administrative functions of the Schiele Museum of Natural History. This position is responsible for budgeting, financial planning, contract management, revenue oversight, and facility operations. The role also supports workforce management, regulatory compliance, and strategic planning to enhance business services. Reporting to the museum Director and Assistant Director, the Business Services Manager collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient business operationsThe following job functions are standard for this position. These are not all-inclusive, and additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Develops and manages operating budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals; Oversees financial planning, forecasting, and grant administration (Federal/State); Monitors and manages revenue streams, including fees, sponsorships, and donations

20%Oversees vendor relationships, contact negotiations, and procurement processes; Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations for financial services agreements

15%Manages the maintenance, safety, and functionally of facilities, offices, and public areas; Coordinates with relevant departments to ensure seamless operations

15%Supervises hiring, training, and performance evaluation of business services staff; Supports workforce planning and talent development initiatives

15%Oversees financial audits and ensures compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements; Implements policies and procedures to maintain operational and financial integrity10�velops long-term business strategies to enhance financial stability; Engages with community partners, boards, and stakeholders to support organizational initiatives 10%Ensures high-quality customer service and a positive visitor experience; implements business process improvements for efficiency and engagement10%

  • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and grant administration.
  • Knowledge of business operations, human resources, and contract negotiation.
  • Ability to lead teams, develop staff, and foster a positive work environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, financial software, and data analysis tools.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with government entities, nonprofits, and private sector partners.

Education/Experience:

Hiring range: $68,792 - $87,549 depending upon qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in business management, financial administration, government operations, or nonprofit leadership
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered

Special Requirements

  • Completion of NIMS IS-700, IS-100, IS-200, and IS-300 courses within 12 months of hire
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to travel, including overnight, as needed

Office Environment Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Office environment work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are categorized as office environment if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other Office Environment Work criteria are met.

The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform one or more of the following:

  • Preparing and analyzing data and figures
