Job Description
Under the general supervision of the Solid Waste Director or designee the incumbent performs supervisory duties over the Supervisors and is responsible for all aspects of the utility field asset management and operations including planning development and implementation. Provides input and direction on short and long range plans; gathers, interprets for studies and makes recommendations. Coordinates and discuss daily department activities with supervisors, administrative management and director, as well as other agencies or departments as needed. Confers with the Solid Waste Director to review and discuss the day-to-day operations and to plan activities for optimum effectiveness in personnel and equipment utilization. Assist supervisors in planning and organizing workloads and staff assignment; trains, motivates and evaluates assigned staff; reviews progress and recommends changes as needed. Insures that safety practices and procedures are in compliance with Federal, State and local regulations.
Additional Information
Beginning Hourly Rate: $38.98 p/h
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Five (5) years of experience related to the operations and maintenance in a solid waste municipal utility environment
- Three (3) years of supervisory or management responsibilities and increasingly responsible experience in refuse collection and disposal.
- Valid Commercial (CDL) Driver's License Class A or B with Medical Certificate (state of Residence). Must meet City's insurability requirements.
Must pass a background check
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Refuse Collection Systems
- Certification in Composting
