Under the direction of the Public Works Supervisor, the Parks Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing maintenance, repair, and construction duties by maintaining parks, athletic fields, landscaping, installing, and maintaining irrigation systems, applying pesticides, and many other related tasks. This position exercises no supervision.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
•Maintains parks and fields by mowing, trimming trees, mulching, weeding, installing, and maintaining flower beds, leveling parks and fields, repairing fencing, removing litter, brush, and debris, cleaning and maintaining restrooms and removing trash, planting and fertilizing seeds and grass, and chemical weed killing. Sets up sporting equipment to include bases, goals, and nets; drags and chalks fields.
•Operates, maintains, and repairs equipment such as mowers, tractors, weed eaters, trimmers, chainsaws, and trailers.
•Assists with various projects including sod and seed installation and establishment, tree planting and minor landscape renovations.
•Clean and maintain shop area. Tracks and maintains inventory and supplies.
•Support and assist rentals and events in setup and teardown and during events.
•Performs and reports various park inspections and playground inspections and inventory and maintenance logs.
•Performs related work as assigned.
•Maintain regular and consistent attendance during assigned work hours.
•This position is essential during natural or manmade disasters and catastrophic events. The role may require providing services or performing tasks that ensure public safety and the continuity of City operations, which could differ from the regular duties of the position.
