We are seeking a detail-oriented payroll professional with HR generalist skills to join our HR team. Essential Functions
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the execution and continuous improvement of the following key areas:
Full-Cycle Payroll & Data Management
- Execute end-to-end payroll including timecard processing, direct deposit updates, tax form changes, deductions, garnishments, and accrual management.
- Manage the reconciliation and issuance of W-2s and year-end reporting.
- Maintain meticulous digital records for all payroll actions and ensure compliance with federal and state labor laws.
Reporting & Benefits Integration
- Manage monthly Kentucky Public Pension reporting and data submittal.
- Handle all voluntary retirement account enrollments with Kentucky Deferred Compensation; manage the completion of 401(a) enrollment or decline paperwork at hire and at the one-year anniversary.
- Manage benefit enrollments and data feeds to insurance vendors
- Process departmental invoices.
- Assist with the prescription procurement program.
New Employee Onboarding & Orientation
- Design and lead a monthly New Employee Orientation program, ensuring all new hires understand their compensation, benefits, and company culture.
- Serve as the primary contact for new hires to ensure benefits enrollments and payroll documents are completed accurately and timely.
- Manage high-volume employee processing for Parks and Recreation seasonal hires, including background check clearances.
HR Support & Position Management
- Maintain the position allocation within the HRIS and manage active job postings.
- Establish a functional understanding of broader HR areas including FMLA administration and general policy guidance to support the team as needed.
