The Mission
Led by Chief Craig Heredia, the Fountain Valley Police Department is committed to courage, duty, and public trust. We are seeking a strategic leader to join our Support Services Division and ensure the operational integrity of our frontline services.
About the Role:
- Dispatchers: 8 Full-Time, 1 Part-Time, and 1 Lead.
- Records Clerk: 3 Full-Time, 1 Part-Time, and 1 Lead.
- Police Cadets and Front Desk personnel

- Under the general direction of the Support Services Manager, formulates, develops and implements operational goals, objectives, policies and work procedures and standards for the Records, Dispatch, Front Desk and Police Cadets.
- Analyzes and troubleshoots systems and procedures to minimize problem areas and improve efficiency.
- Supervises subordinate staff including conducting radio/telephone audits, completes performance evaluations and employee training.
- Enforces strict adherence to regulations and procedures governing the security and privacy of criminal history records and personnel information.
- Ensures the maintenance of comprehensive logs, files and reports.
- Compiles, tabulates, records and checks statistical data and prepares related reports.
- Assists departmental staff and the public in person, by telephone and at the front desk.
- Responds to requests for information from the public and outside agencies; answers routine questions and/or responds to more complex inquiries requiring the interpretation of laws, policies, and procedures including but not limited to, California Public Records Act Requests and Subpoenas.
- Responds to questions and complaints from the public in accordance with departmental procedures.
EXPERIENCE: At least three (3) years of experience in public safety environment, with Records and/or Dispatch experience preferred. Supervisory experience is highly desirable.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include emergency call back, shift work, nights, holidays, and weekends to accommodate City needs.
