A Property Control Supervisor job is available with the City of Fort Worth Police Auto Pound Unit. You will be responsible for supervision of assignments, reviews and participates in the work of employees responsible for performing a variety of technical duties related to the receipt, storage, protection, delivery, release and disposition of property or evidence, including vehicles at the Police Auto Pound. Ensures work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures; and performs the more technical and complex tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications

  • HS diploma/GED supplemented with specialized training in accounting, inventory management, property control related to criminal justice procedures and/or warehouse operations
  • Three (3) years of property and evidence control experience including vehicle impound operations
  • One year of administrative or lead supervisory responsibility
  • Must pass a Drug Screen, Polygraph Exam and must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Skilled in operating large equipment such as a forklift, SkyTrak, skid steer, and oversized tractor
  • Extensive Customer Service Skills
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft HCM and iNovah Cashiering Systems

The Property Control Supervisor Job Responsibilities Include

  • Supervises staff, which includes prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff is trained; ensuring employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and, making hiring, termination, and disciplinary decisions or recommendations.
  • Establishes schedules and methods for providing property and evidence control services; identifies resource needs; reviews needs with appropriate management staff; and allocates resources accordingly.
  • Participates in the development of policies and procedures; monitors work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures; and makes recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards and procedures.
  • Monitors and evaluates the quality, responsiveness, efficiency and effectiveness of assigned property control programs, service delivery methods and procedures; and works with employees on the continuous improvement of assigned services.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable rules and regulations governing the release of property and evidence vehicles to the courts, the public, and/or various law enforcement agencies.
  • Participates in the development and administration of the property and evidence control program budget; submits budget recommendations; and monitors expenditures.
  • Responds to Public Information Requests, Court Expunctions, and requests for information from Risk Management.
  • Prepares analytical and statistical reports on operations and activities for the Police Auto Pound Unit.
  • Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in the Department and City attendance policies and procedures; ensures all behaviors comply with the City’s Personnel Rules and Regulations.

Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions.

Medium work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.

Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) Background Check

Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class
