Workdays & Hours: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm. Some evening/weekend work required. Hybrid work arrangements may be available after completing the initial six-month probationary period.

Potential projects you will be a part of include any of the following:
  • Lead teams in the development and initiation of complex capital infrastructure projects, primarily Stormwater-related, such as storm drain pipe rehabilitation, channel restoration, culvert design, and other stormwater improvement projects.
  • Perform professional civil engineering work by leading teams to evaluate Stormwater-related issues and develop project scope, schedule, and budget for Stormwater Infrastructure capital improvement projects.
  • Manage consultants, review consultant plans and specifications, conduct public meetings, and oversee contracts, amendments, and invoices.
  • Collaborate effectively with City officials, residents, commercial entities, and other agencies to ensure project success.
  • Work independently under the direction of an Engineering Manager while demonstrating strong leadership, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering or a related field
  • Three (3) years of professional civil engineering experience, two (2) of which must be related to civil engineering design and construction projects and/or infrastructure design/review of private development projects
  • Possession of registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. If licensed in another state, continued employment will be contingent upon obtaining registration as a Professional Engineer within the State of Texas within six months of employment
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least seven (7) years of engineering experience; four (4) years of experience must relate to Stormwater management/drainage
  • Project Management Professional PMP certification
  • Highly familiar with fundamental principles, practices, and techniques of Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, drainage and civil engineering
  • Experience with FEMA and other federal agencies' regulations and permitting

The Sr Professional Engineer- Stormwater job responsibilities include:
  • Performing construction project management and professional civil engineering work and leading teams to evaluate Stormwater-related issues and develop the scope, schedule, and budget for Stormwater infrastructure capital improvement projects to address these issues
  • Ability to meet pressing deadlines and manage contracts and have to facilitate and coordinate with multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Exceptional customer service, time management, communication, and writing skills are essential to address telephone, email, and public inquiries
  • Reviewing consultant Plans and Specifications
  • Reviewing contracts, amendments, and invoices, and performing other tasks as needed
  • Providing direct support to the Engineering Manager and assisting in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, goals and objectives and making recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards and procedures

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing and balancing.

Light Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
