City of Fort Wayne – Fleet Garage
Position: Master Level Technician – Heavy Duty
Pay: $30 – $37 per hour Schedule: 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m., may vary
What You'll Do:
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on a wide range of city vehicles, from construction equipment to fire trucks and SUVs
- Use diagnostic software and advanced tools to troubleshoot and repair computerized and non-computerized systems
- Conduct major and minor engine, hydraulic, transmission, and electrical repairs
- Assist in new vehicle make-ready service and decommissioning
- Provide road-side assistance for city vehicles
- Train and mentor Mid-Level and Entry-Level Technicians
- Maintain clean, safe work area and comply with all safety procedures
Must-Have Qualifications:
- High school diploma (or equivalent) plus 12 years' experience as a skilled mechanic; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of heavy and light equipment, internal combustion and diesel engines
- Skilled with garage tools, scan tools, and mechanical diagnostics
- Valid Indiana driver's license; CDL B with airbrake endorsement within one year
