Under the general direction of the designated supervisor, the incumbent performs unskilled and semi-skilled manual work, is responsible for routine maintenance, landscape installation, map reading, the operation of a backhoe/excavator, and dump truck with air brakes. Work assignment may also include but not limited to painting, mowing, barricade placement and removal, tent installation and removal. This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Responsibilities And Reporting During An Emergency Situation
Essential Employees may be required to work during a declared emergency. Depending on the nature of the emergency, this may require working around the clock for several days on short notice.
Non Essential Employees will not be required to work during a declared emergency. The employee’s Department Head will determine when the employee will be required to work.

- Maintenance and inspection of equipment to ensure it is safe and in good repair at all times.

- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Maintains and repair asphalt/concrete roadways, sidewalks and curbs, City right of ways, culverts and catch basins and lots; including chemical spraying of unsightly growth and aquatics.
- Operate trucks and light equipment as needed.
- Clean and repair equipment as needed.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to operate necessary equipment, including push mower, hand tools and other routine equipment.
- Ability to perform work in varying and adverse weather conditions.
- One year related experience; or education, experience, and/or training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Must possess a valid Florida drivers license with an acceptable driving record at time of hire and must obtain Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License, within 12 months of hire.
- Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) Mandatory Drug/Alcohol Testing required.
