Under the general direction of the designated supervisor, oversees the effective and efficient operation of the permitting process ensuring the timely processing of applications and the timely issuance of permits. This position shall provide advanced technical assistance and excellent customer service to the general public.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the City's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include, assigning, and directing work; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Responsibilities And Reporting During An Emergency Situation
Essential Employees may be required to work during a declared emergency. Depending on the nature of the emergency, this may require working around the clock for several days on short notice.
Non Essential Employees will not be required to work during a declared emergency. The employee's Department Head will determine when the employee will be required to work.

Duties/Responsibilities
- Supervise/process permit applications, ensure receipt of all required documentation, timely data entry, disbursement to all applicable departments for review, timely issuance of permit, proper file creation, maintenance, and archival, contractor license registration.
- Organize, schedule, and coordinate work activities of Permit Representative positions on front permitting counter to ensure proper coverage.
- Answer large volume of incoming calls; provide excellent customer service via phone, email, and in person.
- Research and compile a variety of information for reporting purposes and perform data entry using a variety of databases and forms.
- Ensure confidentiality of all documents and information.
- Apply organizational, departmental and office policies, procedures, and practices.
- Maintain effective working relationships and public relations.
- Participate in various department staff meetings and assist in training new and temporary employees.
- May require to drive a motor vehicle to accomplish assigned tasks.
- This position requires regular and reliable attendance and the employee's physical presence at the workplace
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Proficient in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, and accounting software.
