What are the responsibilities and job description for the Billing Specialist - Fire Rescue position at City of Fort Lauderdale?
Performs a variety of billing functions for the Fire Prevention Bureau of the Fire Rescue Department and provides information to customers, processes various billed services and accounts and complies records of charges for services rendered.
- Initiates and performs the billing process for fire prevention fees and other charges billed by the City's Fire Rescue Department
- Prepares and produces monthly and annual bills for mailing to customers showing an itemized account of the amount owed to the City
- Provides customer service by answering telephones and responding to account inquiries
- Resolves customer billing inquiries, complaints, and issues via phone, email, and fax machine
- Reviews and reconciles accounts for accuracy and completeness
- Creates and monitors new accounts.
- Communicates with third party billing vendors on behalf of the department.
- Prepares and distributes various records, reports, notices and other relevant materials
- Performs related work as required
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalency
- One (1) to three (3) years of general clerical work or customer service experience.
- Must have excellent phone and verbal communication skills and strong data entry skills
- If claiming Veteran's Preference, candidates must attach a DD214 Member 4 form (or other supporting claim documents) to the online application.
- Working Knowledge of Accela Land Management software
- Experience maintaining large accounts, including but not limited to, computerized billing/invoicing, processing payments, and related tasks
