Job Summary

The City of Fort Collins is seeking a passionate and community-focused leader to manage adult programs the Fort Collins Senior Center and help shape meaningful recreation opportunities for residents of all ages. This position plays a vital role in creating welcoming, inclusive spaces where adults and the broader community can stay active, connected, and engaged.

In this role, you will oversee operations of the Senior Center while leading the planning, development, and delivery of dynamic recreation programs, including adult sports and community activities for youth, adults, seniors, and individuals with adaptive needs. You will collaborate with community partners, guide program development, and ensure the Senior Center remains a vibrant hub for lifelong learning, wellness, and social connection.

The ideal candidate brings creativity, strong organizational and leadership skills, and a passion for building inclusive programs that reflect the diverse needs of the Fort Collins community. You will manage facility operations, oversee program budgets and resources, supervise staff and programs, and cultivate partnerships with community organizations to expand recreation opportunities across the city.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive.

  • Develops, plans, implements, and evaluates recreation programs and services.
  • Responsible for assigned facilities; schedules use and maintenance of facilities.
  • Prepares budget and directs expenditure of department funds and keeping of department records.
  • Interprets recreation programs to public and maintains cooperative planning and working relationships with allied public and voluntary agencies. Develops and maintains professional relationships with these agencies.
  • Promotes recreation programs by assisting in the preparation of publications, brochures, news releases, flyers, seminars, clinics, etc.
  • Maintains records and writes reports including year-end information.
  • Maintains equipment inventory, records, and filing systems.
  • Provides interpretation and guidance regarding City policies and safety regulations.
  • Maintains cooperative and compatible working relations.
  • May act as liaison to organizations and boards.
  • Functions as a member of various department collaborative teams.

Required Qualifications

College degree or equivalent work experience. Some positions may require functionally related certification or advanced degrees Bachelor\'s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Recreation Administration, Human Development, Physical Education or related field

Experience Requirements

  • Two to five years related experience; supervisory experience desirable.

Certifications/Licenses/Specialized Training

  • Valid driver\'s license. May require operator’s license for 15 passenger vehicle. CPR/AED and First Aid Certification recommended (required for some positions). Other certifications may be required for some positions (e.g., Lifeguard Training, Membership in the Professional Skaters Association, CTRS, etc.).
