SUMMARY: The Natural Areas Trails and Visitor Amenities Crew Member is a seasonal position with the City of Fort Collins Natural Areas Dept. This position performs a wide variety of tasks including: trail and fence construction, repair, and maintenance; trash and litter removal; vault toilet cleaning; installation of signs; vegetation management such as mowing, weed whipping, and weed control; and other maintenance activities on natural area sites of varying size and composition.
This position will be expected to work 40 hours per week from roughly May through August, four 10-hour days. Schedule options will be either Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Friday. Occasional weekend or evening coverage may also be necessary.
Please note that hourly positions are not provided with insurance or retirement benefits.
Supervision Received: Receives supervision from the Natural Areas Trails and Visitor Amenities Supervisor with field guidance from Natural Areas Sr Coordinator and Technicians
Supervision Exercised: May oversee volunteer groups of varying sizes.

- Constructs and maintains soft surface trails;
- Removes trash and litter from natural area sites;
- Cleans vault toilets;
- Constructs and repairs kiosks, sign frames, fences, boardwalks; Installs signs, benches, and other structures;
- Controls vegetation through mowing, weed whipping, cutting, and spraying herbicides
- Assists with gravel parking lot grading operations including use of heavy equipment;
- Operates, maintains, and performs minor repairs on equipment and vehicles such as mowers, trucks, sprayers, water pumps, etc;
- Provides support for volunteer projects and may oversee volunteer groups of varying size;
- Work with integrity and maintain a safe work environment;
- Perform other related work as assigned.
