Job Summary

NextGen Crew Leaders will work with the Volunteer Services Program Manager and the Youth Engagement Coordinator to implement the City’s summer teen volunteer club, NextGenServe. NextGenServe is a teen volunteer service club that teaches job skills and career exploration while volunteering around the City. Crew Leaders will lead groups of teens enrolled in NextGenServe, providing a fun environment, while also serving as mentors and ensuring safety. Crew Leaders need to be available Monday-Thursday, 7:30 am to 1 pm. The position will run mid-May to mid-August.

TIME COMMITMENT AND AVAILABILITY

  • May 15st-August 10
  • Monday-Thursday, 7:30 am to 1:00 pm
  • 16-20 hours per week

Job Duties

  • Coordinate event logistics
  • Work collaboratively with other staff, interns, and teens
  • Serve as a Crew Leader for 10-15 teens on volunteer projects
  • Drive City vans to projects (15-passenger)
  • Lead team-building activities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Excellent customer service skills including the ability to precisely articulate complex information to others in an ethical and respectful manner.
  • Excellent public relations and communication skills including the ability to interact and work effectively and courteously with people from varying social, cultural, and economic backgrounds.
  • Experience working with youth
