Summary
Golf Division is currently seeking an entry level candidate (driver’s license not required, age 16 years or older) to become an Assistant Golf Worker and join a talented team of innovators to help strengthen the world-class stewardship of golf courses in our community. The Golf Division provides a positive and engaging environment, comprehensive training, and opportunity for professional growth and career advancement in the green industry. Experience is not necessary, a driver’s license is not required, and positions generally open in early spring and last until late fall.
The Assistant Golf Worker position is a job where you’ll be working outdoors, helping to the city’s golf courses. You’ll learn green industry standards, landscaping techniques, turf care and irrigation practices while performing a variety of duties including edging, raking, cleaning debris, weeding, and plant-bed care which are practical and in demand career skills.

Essential Duties:
-Assist in maintenance of City golf courses.
-Operate (after provided training) a variety of equipment including, utility vehicles, hand tools, power tools.
-Clean and remove trash from all areas of the golf course including shelters and restroom facilities.
-Assist with horticulture maintenance (shrub beds, flower beds, specialty gardens).
-Assist with irrigation maintenance and repairs.
-May help with snow removal.
-May collaborate with other Park divisions in Cemetery, Forestry and Parks as needed.
-Work successfully in a team environment, as well as autonomously, in all weather conditions.
-Interact with the public in a professional and courteous manner.
-Engage with team members in a considerate and helpful manner and project a positive attitude in the workplace.
-All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications/Experience:
-Must be at least 16 years old. (Driver’s license is not required.)
-Successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Record and background check.
-Physical, mental, and cognitive abilities sufficient to perform the essential duties outlined above with or without reasonable accommodation including:
-Ability to read, write and communicate well with others.
-Physical ability and stamina to perform duties including bending, lifting, digging, pushing, and kneeling.
-Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly; occasionally up to 50 pounds maximum.
Proper safety measures for lifting/moving any item are expected to be followed; including, but not limited to, the use of proper Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), use of lifting/moving equipment, and/or assistance from co-workers.
Work Schedule/Conditions:
-Position is a non-benefitted seasonal/temporary hourly position.
-Potential for flexible work schedules to allow for work-life-school balance.
-Hours vary from part-time to full-time and may include weekends, holidays and early mornings.
-Potential for overtime pay and accrued sick/personal time based on qualified hours worked.
-Work occurs outdoors in a variety of weather conditions under the supervision of a crew leader.
-Safety gear is provided and required including, but is not limited to, safety-toed boots, safety glasses and ear protection.
-May use chemicals including cleaning supplies and herbicides.
-Attendance at weekly staff meetings, trainings, and safety meetings is required.
