Job Summary
Under general supervision, this position performs the duties of a Field Maintenance Worker I as well as additional duties based on training and experience. Operates heavy equipment for the removal of debris; moving dirt, sand, and soil; and digging large holes. Assists in city events including high profile events with large numbers of citizens, tourists, and visitors. Operates small equipment in the maintenance of parks and the upkeep of ball fields. Reports to the Recreation Field Superintendent. Essential Functions
High School Diploma/GED and two (2) years of experience in a job related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Special Qualifications:
Valid Driver's License.
Successful applicants must pass a criminal background check (including driving history), pre-employment physical and drug screen.

- Inspects parks and ball fields for safety, wear, and damage.
- Helps in the planning and preparation of all special events held by the City of Foley including high profile events.
- Operates heavy equipment for work done in the parks on the ball fields.
- Operates small equipment and machines for park maintenance.
- Makes minor repairs to equipment.
- Works without immediate supervision in a lead position or a working guide to direct work for “Field Maintenance Worker I” positions and part-time seasonal workers.
- Repairs or assists in the installation of irrigation systems.
- Weed eats, edges, and prunes trees around complexes.
- Measures, lies out, and paints various athletic fields for various sports and age groups.
- Utilizes a variety of tools and/or sets of tools such as paint machine, socket wrenches, drill gun chemical sprayer, table saw, chain saws, and a hammer.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
