Job Overview
The City of Florence is seeking a reliable, motivated Streets Department Laborer to join our Public Services team. This position performs a variety of manual labor and maintenance tasks related to the construction, repair, and upkeep of city streets, sidewalks, drainage systems, rights-of-way, and other public infrastructure.
Duties
- Assist with the construction, repair, and maintenance of streets, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and stormwater systems
- Perform manual labor including digging, raking, shoveling, lifting, and debris removal
- Operate and maintain hand tools and small equipment such as weed trimmers, blowers, compactors, and chainsaws
- Assist with asphalt patching, concrete work, and pavement marking
- Maintain cleanliness of city streets, rights-of-way, alleys, and public spaces
- Support seasonal tasks including storm cleanup, and special city projects
- Follow safety procedures and use appropriate protective equipment
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to operate and maintain tools, equipment, and machinery safely.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting 50 lbs, working outdoors, and working in confined spaces.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
