What are the responsibilities and job description for the Service Attendant Central Garage position at City of Florence, Alabama?
Works under the supervision and direction of the Central Garage Manager, performing light mechanic work and service on vehicles and equipment assigned to the department. Employee will assist mechanics as directed by Supervisor.
Overall supervision and direction by the Supervisor. Responsible for daily duties without direct supervision.

- Services vehicles and equipment
- Grease equipment and trucks
- Change oil
- Check batteries, brake fluid, and transmission fluid
- Perform other related services to vehicles and equipment as assigned
- Maintain adequate shop supplies.
- Ensure that the shop area is clean and orderly.
- Assist mechanics as needed.
- Report equipment malfunctions/problems to Supervisor.
- Performs all work in accordance with established Department, City, State, and Federal guidelines.
- Performs other assigned duties as required.
- Minimum of one year of experience in vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance.
- High School education, GED certificate, or equivalent experience.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge of service maintenance for automobiles, trucks, and other equipment.
- Knowledge of automobiles, trucks, and equipment repairs.
- Ability to maintain service records.
- Knowledge of traffic safety rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of safety rules and regulations that apply to working around vehicles and equipment.
- Ability to follow instructions and get along with fellow employees and customers.
