What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Basketball Referee position at City of Fitchburg?
JOB REQUIREMENTS: The Basketball Referee works under the general
direction and supervision of the Community Center/Recreation Manager and
is responsible for officiating scheduled basketball games coordinated by
the Recreation & Community Services Department. This is a seasonal
position working on Saturdays in the months of December-February.
Responsibilities: The following duties are normal for the position.
These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive; other
duties may be required and assigned. Observes players and regulates the
game. Interprets game rules. Communicates with players, coaches,
parents, and other referees. Makes decisions and resolves disputes
between teams. Records game score and manages game time. Promotes good
sportsmanship through respectful behavior to both coaches and teams.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with
employees, supervisors, participants, and the general public. \*\*\*\*\*
OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Must be at least 16 years of age.
Knowledge of the game of basketball or the desire to learn the sport .
