As the Recreation & Community Center Exercise Instructor, you will offer appropriate and safe exercise instructions in a group setting to help older adults maintain strength, flexibility, and range of motion.

- Provide high quality, safe and motivating exercise instruction based on class description.
- Provide modifications/adaptations based on individual needs.
- Maintain competencies and remain current in trends relative to older adult exercise classes.
- Respond to all injuries and assist in immediate first aid and proper emergency procedures.
- Regularly inspect equipment and report any safety or maintenance needs.
- Keep instructional area organized, clean, and inviting.
- Provide a friendly, inclusive, service-oriented environment for all participants.
- Demonstrate awareness of, and appreciation for, individual uniqueness and diversity.
- Keep students up to date when there is a switch in instructors or an absence that will require a class(s) to be taught by video.
- Inform participants on the first day of a new month that class payments are due and direct them to activity envelopes or the Senior Center front desk.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, muscular function, exercise program implementation, and safe group exercise procedures as they relate to older adults.
- Proper use of related class materials and equipment.
- Ability to learn new formats and propose new classes to add to the schedule.
- Certification in CPR, AED within 30 days of hire.
- At least 1 year of experience in leading group fitness classes
