The City of Fayetteville is currently recruiting for a Transit Supervisor to supervise, assign, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for providing transit services within the Transit Department; to ensure that all transit and para-transit routes are running according to schedule; and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.
The Transit Department provides bus services 7 days a week. Interested applicants must be available to work during the following hours of operation:
- Monday - Friday between the hours of 4:00 AM and 11:00 PM
- Saturday between the hours of 6:00 AM and 8:00 PM
- Sunday between the hours of 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM
- Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for providing transit services within the Transit Department.
- Prepare, schedule, assign and review daily operator work duties and routes; vehicle assignment sheets, operator schedules/run for bid, selection, assignment, and status reports.
- Maintain and review departmental employee personnel records for compliance with City policies and procedures.
- Prepare and present clear, concise and accurate reports to the Transit Operations Manager.
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise the daily operations of Transit including, but not limited to, developing route and schedule assignments for Transit operations.
- Collect, count and report transit revenues; maintain revenue records; prepare deposit slip; deliver deposit slip and revenue to bank or appropriate department; maintain related records.
- Assign, direct and supervise transit, dispatching and related operations which include scheduling daily work assignments.
- Select, train, motivate and evaluate personnel; provide or coordinate staff training, work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement disciplinary procedures.
- Operate a two-way radio in support of dispatching duties; ensure routes are serviced in a timely fashion and on schedule; assist transit operators during breakdowns including securing replacement equipment and staff; coordinate major equipment and vehicle repairs.
- Conduct investigations of accidents, incidents and injuries in the workplace for preventable and non-preventable accidents/incidents/injuries by viewing video footage and taking pictures of incident scenes; prepare and submit accident, incident and injury reports.
Experience:
Two years of experience in public transit operations/administration and one-year supervisory or managerial responsibility.
Training:
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
LICENSING & CERTIFICATIONS
Required:
Possession of an appropriate valid driver’s license and have the ability to obtain, within six (6) months of hire, a North Carolina Class B Commercial Driver's License with passenger and air brake endorsements and ability to maintain insurability, and a current DOT Medical Card.
Preferred:
None.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- This position is subject to alcohol and controlled substances testing as required by FTA.
From the time of closing, the selection process is anticipated to last approximately 4 - 6 weeks. The process will consist of a panel interview and clerical tests which may include, but are not limited to: Proofreading, Sentence Clarity and Spelling with the selected candidate being subject to a pre-employment drug screen, DOT Physical, background check and driving history check.
