The City of Fayetteville is currently recruiting for Equipment Operator I's in our Public Services department to operate construction and maintenance equipment in support of a variety of parks, horticulture, cemetery, airport, transit or solid waste collection vehicles and equipment activities including mowing, loading and related operations; and to perform other parks, horticulture, airport, street maintenance, solid waste or transit operations.

Six months of experience involving the skilled operation of light construction and maintenance equipment in parks, cemeteries, horticulture environments, street repair/maintenance, transit operations or related field.
Training
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
LICENSING & CERTIFICATIONS
Required
Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license and ability to maintain insurability.
Preferred
Safety course completion; Defensive Driving course completion; Biohazard course completion; Flagger certification; Pesticide Applicator license.
From the time of closing, the selection process is anticipated to last 4 - 6 weeks. The process will consist of a panel interview with the selected candidate being subject to a pre-employment drug screen, physical abilities test, background check and driving history check.

The City of Fayetteville is currently recruiting for Equipment Operator I's in our Public Services department to operate construction and maintenance equipment in support of a variety of parks, horticulture, cemetery, airport, transit or solid waste collection vehicles and equipment activities including mowing, loading and related operations; and to perform other parks, horticulture, airport, street maintenance, solid waste or transit operations.
- Operate light construction power-driven equipment, such as tractors, riding mowers, push-mowers, small dump trucks, solid waste collection vehicles and a variety of other equipment in support of maintenance, solid waste and construction operations.
- Participate in the repair and maintenance of city owned properties such as parks, cemeteries, city streets, roads, alleyways, bus shelters, benches, solar lights, bus stop signs and/or drainage systems.
- Perform additional grounds maintenance, construction and maintenance tasks such as mowing, clearing fence lines of obstructions, seeding, weeding, truck driving, and a variety of minor repair activities.
- Identify equipment needs for each assigned project; transport and deliver equipment to and from construction sites or bus stop locations; maintain equipment; inspect equipment prior to use; secure equipment following use.
- Maintain records and logs of all work performed and complete basic preventive maintenance on light equipment as required.
- Transport construction equipment and materials as needed.
- Install street barricades and cones prior to the performance of activities; direct and control traffic around work sites.
- Perform routine repairs to plumbing, electrical and mechanical fixtures and equipment.
