Police Officer Entry Level: Job Summary
The City of Farmington is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Police Officer to join our team. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining law and order in the community, enforcing laws and regulations, and providing exceptional customer service to the public.
About the Job
This is an entry-level position that requires attendance at a police academy to become a certified law enforcement officer. Successful candidates will receive a $5,000 hiring bonus payable in three installments upon completion of various milestones.
Responsibilities
- Perform uniformed shift work, including days, evenings, and nights, including weekends and holidays
- Conduct security patrols, traffic control, investigations, and first aid at accidents
- Respond to emergency radio calls and investigate crimes, including robberies, civil disturbances, and domestic disputes
- Interrogate suspects, witnesses, and drivers, and preserve evidence
- Arrest or cite violators, and prepare cases for court proceedings
Requirements
- Must be 21 years or older by the time the academy is completed
- Must have ability to become a certified law enforcement officer in the State of New Mexico within one year
- Must possess, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record for the past three years
- Must be a United States Citizen
- Felony convictions and disqualifying criminal histories are not allowed
Working Conditions
- The employee frequently works in outside weather conditions
- The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, in high places, and with explosives
