Reports to the Prosecutor, Court Administrator and Judge. Provides support services and information to all victims of misdemeanor and/or felony crimes occurring in the City of Fairfield and prosecuted in the Fairfield Municipal Court.

Crime victims are provided certain rights detailed in the Ohio Constitution Article I, Section 10(a) and the Ohio Revised Code, often called “Marsy’s Law” or the Ohio Crime Victims’ Bill of Rights. Crime victims have the right to reasonable notice, to be present and heard at all court proceedings, to be informed of the release of the offender, to offer input on negotiated pleas, to a prompt conclusion of their case, and to restitution for economic losses resulting from the criminal offense.

· Provide crisis intervention and emotional support to victims throughout the case proceedings.

· Assist in the preparation of grant funding applications and comply with reporting requirements.

· Maintain professionalism and confidentiality.

· Prepare and file Temporary Protection Orders and No Contact Orders.

· Insure Victims are notified and/or subpoenaed for Court hearings and processes.

· Issue appropriate notices to Victims for Expungement, Sealing and Probation hearings.

· Aid in the information and signup procedures for Victim Information and Notification Every Day (VINE) and assist in the preparation of Ohio Victim of Crime Compensation Form.

· Maintain all records pertaining to the Victim Witness Assistance Program in proper order.

· Attend trainings determined to be beneficial as directed by the Prosecutor, Court Administrator and Judge. Keep informed about the Ohio and Federal laws that relate to victim’s rights.

· Understand the court’s responsibilities, functions, organizational structure and purpose.

· Perform all other office related duties as assigned by the Prosecutor, Court Administrator and/or Judge.

The ideal candidate must be eager to learn, committed to excellence, team oriented, effectively manage time and tasks, detailed oriented and:

a. Possess Associates or Bachelor Degree or a combination of education, experience and training, which indicates sufficient skills to complete the job in this directive.

b. Ability to become proficient in job tasks within ninety (90) days.

c. Able to handle heavy workloads, meet deadlines and handle stressful and sensitive situations.
