JOB SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, the Pool Manager is responsible for supervising indoor aquatic management staff and enforcing all rules and regulations. This position plans, organizes, schedules, and directs the activities of all personnel, develops and conducts in-service training and administrative matters, supervises the collection and deposits of all monies, and ensures the accuracy of all daily reports.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Schedules, trains, motivates, supervises, and evaluates assigned personnel, provides and coordinates staff training, works with employees to correct deficiencies, implements discipline procedures, and reports necessary information to Recreation Assistant (Aquatics).

Provides customer service assistance to ensure positive public relations, resolves customer concerns and meets customer needs, and assists in training of seasonal management staff to ensure adequate customer service training.

Follows and enforces appropriate safety precautions to safeguard all City assets (human, environmental, and financial), and enforces all pool regulations and policies to ensure these are also enforced by pool personnel.

Leads in the training of lifeguard staff, including the planning and scheduling of weekly in-service, and keeps an accurate record of pool staff attendance.

Maintains inventory controls for all facility equipment and supplies, completes all opening and closing inspections, checklists, and chemical checks, and assists with Aquatic facility rentals.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Excellent leadership, organizational, and communicative skills, both oral and written.

  • Thorough knowledge of the pool's safety rules.

  • Thorough knowledge of the mechanical operation of all equipment used at the pool.

  • Ability to establish emergency standard operating of all equipment used at the pool.

  • Ability to work long hours during the summer months.

  • Ability to maintain routine records and prepare routing reports.

  • Ability to maintain an effective and pleasant working relationship with citizens, the general public, employees, and volunteers.

  • Ability to operate a computer, POS (Point of Sale), RecTrac, printer, copy machine, telephones, pool equipment, pool chemicals, etc.

  • Must have the ability to work various hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays as required.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

High School diploma or equivalent plus two (2) years of experience in water activities is required. Three (3) years of experience in water activities, functioning as a coach, teacher, or lifeguard, is preferred. Must possess an American Red Cross Shallow Lifeguard Training, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Food Handler’s Certificate. Current LGI certification is preferred, or must have the ability to obtain one before season opening. Must have a valid Texas Driver’s license with a good driving record.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

To perform the essential functions of the job, one must be able to perform strenuous physical activities, including running, kneeling, bending, twisting, dragging, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 lbs. of various recreational and athletic equipment; to talk, see, hear, and read, and to work in adverse environmental conditions.
