What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Lifeguard position at City of Española?
Under the supervision of the Recreation Program Supervisor or designee, this position is responsible for swimmer/patron safety by supervising, teaching swimmers water safety classes, and enforcing swimming pool rules. This position is also responsible for assisting the Aquatics Coordinator in maintaining, planning and coordinating operations of aquatic programs of the City of Española swimming pools.
Qualifications
1. High School graduate or equivalent (GED) and three years related experience and/or training; 2. Must possess a current Lifeguard certification issued by American Red Cross; Water Safety Instructor issued by the American Red Cross preferred; 3. Pool maintenance certification (Certified Pool Operator) preferred OR must be able to obtain within six (6) months of hire; 4. Lifeguard Instructor certification preferred OR must be able to obtain within six (6) months of hire; 5. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico driver’s license and be insurable by City’s vehicle insurance carrier.
