What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marketing and Event Coordinator position at City of Enterprise, AL?
This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing recreational events and marketing for Enterprise Parks and Recreation. The position will support the daily marketing needs of the Department, including print and graphic design projects, social media, website content, email campaigns and reporting of analytics and insights. Must be familiar with marketing principles, strategy, and must be able to work independently, juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines all while producing high quality work. This role ensures that community events are engaging, inclusive, and aligned with the city’s goals for public recreation.
MAJOR DUTIES
- Coordinates and prepares departmental marketing materials which include, but is not limited to: Sponsorship package, flyers, posters, brochures, pamphlets, and newsletters, assuring for accuracy, timeliness, and professionalism.
- Coordinates and prepares digital marketing materials including, but not limited to, website content, social media, and email.
- Plans and executes community events like festival in the park and spooky in the park; manages event budgets; establishes contracts with vendors; coordinates event entertainment; coordinates staffing and volunteers; manages event publicity and marketing; solicits donations from local businesses; oversees events and resolves problems.
- Acquires & maintains photographs and photo archives for department programs and events in an accurate and professional manner.
- Coordinates parks and recreation programs; manages program budgets; plans and implements year-round and short-term events; researches programming needs and prepares and implements new programs in response to those needs.
- Assists with Department special events (i.e. park dedications, awards banquets, etc.) in a professional and timely manner.
- Provides administrative support for office operations.
- Attends annual APRA conference; travels with sports teams for competitions as needed.
- Represents the department with community groups, Chamber of Commerce, and city events.
- Performs related duties.
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The Parks and Recreation Superintendent assigns work in terms of general instructions. The Superintendent spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures and the nature and propriety of the final results.
GUIDELINES
Guidelines include city and department policies and procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation in application.
CONTACTS
- Contacts are typically with coworkers, other city staff, program participants, local business leaders, Chamber of Commerce employees, vendors, entertainers, parents, and members of the general public.
- Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, resolve problems, provide services, and motivate persons.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY
This position supervises part-time staff.

- Must be able to and work nonstandard hours, nights, holidays and weekends as needed and be on-call as assigned.
