Job SummaryThe City of Ellsworth is seeking a highly motivated and reliable Facilities Assistant to join our team. This is a full-time position primarily responsible for janitorial services, light maintenance, and supporting the day-to-day operations of multiple municipal facilities across the city. The ideal candidate will take pride in keeping public spaces clean, safe, functional, and welcoming for staff, residents, and visitors alike.
The Facilities Assistant will work closely with team members and other City departments to maintain municipal buildings and respond to facility-related needs in a timely and professional manner.
Key ResponsibilitiesFacility Cleaning and Janitorial Services- Ensure cleanliness, hygiene, and proper function of municipal buildings, including:
- Bathrooms
- Office areas
- Public spaces
- Shared and high-traffic areas
- Maintain cleanliness and safety standards throughout City facilities.
- Utilize cleaning products and equipment safely and effectively.
- Perform light maintenance and repair tasks, including:
- Painting
- Basic carpentry and repairs
- Routine inspections
- Minor maintenance projects
- Assist with facility setups and breakdowns for meetings, events, and municipal functions.
- Support snow and ice control efforts as needed.
- Operate basic maintenance tools and equipment safely.
- Monitor and help manage facility-related inventory and supplies.
- Respond to facility-related inquiries and requests from staff and the public.
- Coordinate with team members and other departments to address operational needs.
- Maintain a professional, courteous, and service-oriented approach when interacting with employees, residents, and visitors.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Must pass an extensive police background check.
- Prior experience in a facilities, maintenance, or janitorial role is preferred but not required.
- Some carpentry or mechanical ability is a plus.
- Additional technical certifications in relevant areas are a plus.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and perform manual labor.
- Ability to operate basic maintenance equipment.
- Self-starter who works well independently and collaboratively.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to public safety and cleanliness.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
