The Program Coordinator is responsible for the overall leadership, support, supervision, safety, and daily operations of the Before and After School Program., No School Adventure Days, Safe Sitter programming, and Sunset Camp. This position supports the Recreation Department's mission through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility by providing quality recreation and enrichment opportunities for participants and families. The Program Coordinator also assists the Recreation Supervisor with seasonal youth sports and additional recreation programming as needed.
- Direct and supervise daily operations of the Before and After School Program and Sunset Camp
- Ensure program activities meet the needs of participants while maintaining a safe, structured, and positive environment
- Supervise, support, and provide guidance to program staff
- Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating staff under the direction of the Recreation Director/Recreation Supervisor
- Conduct and facilitate staff trainings and meetings as needed
- Create and maintain staff schedules and assist with lesson planning and activity development
- Implement and facilitate engaging curriculum, enrichment activities, and recreation programming
- Maintain accurate attendance, incident, medication, and participant records at all times
- Administer medication to participants when applicable and according to policy
- Monitor daily program operations to ensure compliance with all Recreation Department policies, procedures, and safety standards
- Communicate professionally and effectively with parents, guardians, school staff, and community members regarding program questions, concerns, and participant needs
- Assist with purchasing and maintaining supplies and equipment for programs
- Compile program statistics and assist in evaluating program effectiveness and participation
- Coordinate facility usage for program activities and events
- Assist with marketing, registrations, and distribution of program information
- Model positive relationship-building skills in all interactions
- Respond to parent and community concerns in a timely and professional manner
- Oversee and coordinate No School Adventure Day programming, which occurs approximately 6–8 times per year during scheduled non-school days
- Serve as an instructor for the Safe Sitter program, offered quarterly on Saturdays
- Assist the Recreation Supervisor with youth recreation programs including T-Ball, Coach Pitch, Youth Soccer, and Flag Football as needed
- Assist with additional recreation programs, special events, and department initiatives as assigned
- Responsible for adherence to all Recreation Department policies and procedures
- Conduct annual reviews of policies and procedures to maintain program quality
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Minimum of one year of experience working with school-aged children preferred
- Minimum of one year of supervisory or leadership experience preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with children, families, staff, schools, and community partners
- Ability to supervise staff, coordinate schedules, monitor program operations, and support recreation programming
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in decision-making
