What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part Time Parking Control Officer position at City of Elgin?
· Issues tickets for parking violations
· Dispenses information to the general public regarding street directions, private and public facilities, etc.
· Explains parking regulations to citizens as needed
· Performs task of school crossing guard on a relief basis
· Performs various clerical and matron duties as required
· Performs other duties as assigned by competent authority
· Appointment to the position by the Traffic Investigations Commander
· Must have working knowledge of the geography of the city and locations of various private and public facilities and the location of streets
· Must have knowledge of traffic and parking ordinances and laws
· Must have elementary knowledge of simple mathematics
· Must be able to deal tactfully and courteously with the public
· Must be in physical condition to be able to work outdoors under varying weather conditions
· Must be able to prepare and maintain simple records
· Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
· Must be able to maintain effective working relationships with staff, fellow workers, and the general public
