What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Activity Supervisor- Home School Gym Instructor position at City of Elgin, IL?
POSITION OVERVIEW
As a gym and exercise instructor, this is a physical role requiring the incumbent to fully engage in the sports and exercises as a method of teaching. Requires being free from color blindness. Requires no physical limitation on lifting or general physical activity. The physical activity requirement includes but is not limited to exercising, participating in sports, pushing, pulling, bending, squatting, kneeling, crawling, balancing, sitting, standing, walking, climbing, running, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Administrative responsibilities require reading, writing, typing, ability to use a telephone, to see, speak, and hear. This role is not eligible for remote work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Responsibilities
1. Provide quality class instruction/supervision; in related field, to program/class participants.
2. Work with program supervisor in confirming registered participants by reviewing rosters, class lists, etc.
3. Assist in the recruitment of participants and volunteers
4. Provide leadership to work effectively with the public, program participants, families, advisory groups and community groups and organizations.
5. Complete program lesson plans for review by program supervisor.
6. Keep accurate records/reports and complete all written records as required.
7. Provide general information on Parks & Recreation activities and facilities.
8. Maintain program area in a clean and orderly fashion.
9. Maintain a positive public image and attitude with good public relations and customer service.
9. Wear appropriate staff uniform
10. Attend all staff meetings
11. Abide by all City of Elgin rules and regulations as outlined in the Employee Manual.
Qualifications
1. Ability to work pleasantly with participants, patrons and fellow employees.
3. Must be able to teach basic skills of team sports - basketball, volley ball, floor hockey, soccer, kickball and non-competitive games.
4. Ability to enforce all rules and policies of the City of Elgin at the facility in a diplomatic manner.
5. Be able to handle multiple duties/tasks
6. CPR/First Aid certified within 3 months of employment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT -
High School graduate - minimum 18 years of age with prior demonstrated successful experience related to youth sports/recreation/coaching supervision
