There is currently one (1) full-time vacancy in Recreation. This eligibility list may be used to fill other vacancies as they occur. First review of applications will be completed on June 12, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Applications received after June 12, 2026, may not be considered. The position works a 9/80 work schedule, Monday - Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. with every other Friday off.
Applications will be reviewed and a select group of candidates whose background and experience best meet our requirements will be invited to the selection process. The oral interview for this position will take place on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. The top three (3) candidates will be invited to a second, department interview on Thursday, June 25, 2026.Under limited supervision, plans, coordinates, and implements a variety of community recreation programs, community center activities, teen center activities, aquatic programs and facilities, and special events. Supervises part-time recreation staff.
Essential Functions:Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
Position in this classification typically perform a full range of duties at level of complexity represented by the following types of responsibilities:
- Plans, coordinates and facilitates assigned recreation activities and programs in a variety of recreation areas, such as: cultural arts, community programs and classes, teen center, senior programs and services, transportation, aquatics, athletic fields and facilities, sports, camps, special events, etc.;
- Organizes and/or assists with special events, provides tours and group presentations;
- Oversees facility operation and maintenance as needed, coordinates and/or assists Recreation Supervisor with special projects or ongoing programs;
- Promotes use of facilities and membership/participation in programs to the public;
- Prepares press releases, publications (e.g. recreation brochure, newsletters, etc.) and other promotional materials (e.g. signage, banners, flyers, etc.);
- Represents and promotes assigned program(s) through participation on committees, boards and community groups;
- Maintains statistical, attendance and program activity records, and prepares written and oral reports on assigned program;
- May assist with program budget for assigned area(s);
- Provides and promotes excellent customer service to internal and external customers;
- Ensures adherence to department policies and procedures by staff and patrons;
- Hires, trains, schedules, assigns, reviews and evaluates work of part-time staff and volunteers; initiates corrective action; counsels' employees.

- Special certifications or licenses required in assigned programs;
- Policies and procedures related to recreation programs and facilities;

- General office software and recreation registration software.
- Marketing recreation programs;
- Using computer software;
- Communicating with community patrons;
- Researching, updating, and developing recreation programs;
- Preparing clear, concise and comprehensive reports;
- Presenting ideas and concepts orally and in writing;
- Utilizing public relations techniques in order to respond to inquiries and complaints;
- Maintaining accurate records; and
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with supervisors, subordinates, City employees and officials, and members of the public.
Minimum Qualifications:
A combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Recreation/Leisure Management, Physical Education, Public Administration or a related field.
Experience: Two (2) years of experience in the implementation of recreation activities and programs, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience supervising recreation staff is desirable.
Licensing/Certification Requirements:
A valid California Driver's License; and
Based on assignment, current certification in First Aid, CPR, Lifesaving, and Water Safety Instruction may be required.
Working Conditions:
Regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds;
Based on assignment, may be exposed to smells of pool chemicals; and
Exposure to environmental conditions present at City pools and related facilities and locations; and
Exposure to various weather conditions present at indoor and outdoor recreation facilities and/or areas.
Salary : $5,399 - $6,563
