Requirements
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Finance, Business or Public Administration, Risk Management, or a related field, and two (2) years of professional experience in risk management, insurance administration, claims analysis, or data analytics.
Licenses and Certifications: Valid Texas Class C Driver's License or equivalent from another state by time of appointment.
General Purpose
Under general supervision, perform professional analytical work related to the identification, evaluation, and mitigation of risks affecting City operations, employees, assets, and the public. Supports the administration of the City’s insurance, claims, and enterprise risk management programs to promote organizational resilience and fiscal responsibility.
Typical Duties
Utilize data-driven analysis to identify trends and recommend strategies to reduce losses and prevent incidents. Involves: Researching emerging trends, risks, regulatory compliance, and municipal best practices to ensure proactive risk mitigation. Supports the City’s safety and loss prevention programs by analyzing incident data and recommending corrective measures that improve workplace safety and reduce exposure.
Technical collaboration across departments. Involves: Assisting in the identification and management of operational and financial risks associated with City services and programs. Preparing reports, summaries, and presentations for management, City Council, and special committees. Participating in audits, inspections, and special projects. Support and contribute to the comprehensive risk management framework that enhances organizational resilience and supports the City’s long-term objectives.
Supervise assigned staff. Involves: Schedule, assign, instruct, guide, and check work. Appraise employee performance. Provide for training and development. Enforce personnel rules and regulations and work behavior standards firmly and impartially. Counsel, motivate, and maintain harmony. Interview applicants and recommend hiring, discipline, or other employee status changes.
