Job Title: Youth Services Librarian
Edwardsville Public Library
Accountability: Head Librarian of Youth Services
Rate of Pay: $46,000 - $62,000 with MLS Degree
$41,600 - $52,000 without MLS Degree
Full Time Position – 40 hours a week

· Plan, implement, and evaluate library programs and services for patrons ages 0-18 which fulfill the diverse educational, recreational, and personal needs of children and teens, in collaboration with the Head Librarian of Youth Services
· Plan and implement programs for teens
· Develop annual Summer Reading Program for patrons ages 0-18 with the Head Librarian of Youth Services
· Assist Head Librarian of Youth Services with outreach to the community through schools, daycares, other organizations, and participation in special events
· Design and prepare library and program-related art materials, i.e.: murals, bulletin boards, posters and decorations
· Design and prepare youth programming marketing materials for website, social media, and in-house use. Supervise teen volunteers and organize their scheduling and tasks
· Participate in collection development of Juvenile and YA collections
· Prepare youth newsletter in coordination with Head Librarian of Youth Services.
· Maintain youth webpages on library’s website in coordination with Head Librarian of Youth Services
· Assist at circulation desk and provide reference, reader’s advisory services, and technology assistance as needed
· Participate in professional activities, attend continuing education events, and attend meetings
· Perform other duties as assigned
Education
Masters of Science in Library and Information Sciences from an ALA accredited library school preferred (title and pay range may be reduced from Librarian to Coordinator without MLIS degree). Related education and experience considered. Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience
Experience working with children and supervisory ability
Experience in working with teens
Experience in programming for children and teens
Experience in telling and reading stories for groups
Attends and participates in the Southwest Advocates for Youth Services (S.W.A.Y.S.) and other professional organizations
Strong public service attitude, patience, flexibility, willingness to learn new technology, interest in and knowledge of both classic and current children’s literature, ability to select age-appropriate programming, ability to create new programs, good artistic skills, ability to tell stories and assist in puppet plays.
