Starting Salary: $17.59–$19.25 (depending on experience)
About this Position
The Administrative Specialist II performs general clerical services and related duties for the Public Works department. Work can be highly confidential in nature and involves the skilled use of a computer. This position works from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm Monday through Thursday, and 7:30 am to 11:30 am on Friday.
Public Works Administration employees are first responders during emergencies such as inclement weather events. When emergencies arise, Public Works Administration employees are required to work normal working hours to assist Public Works in meeting operational needs. Should an emergency arise or continue after normal working hours, Public Works Administration employees may be asked to provide their services on a voluntary basis until the emergency is resolved.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 12 to 18 months of related experience and/or training
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier
Responsibilities
- Enter data into the work order system
- Utilize software pertaining to specialized programs
- Answer multi-line telephone calls and route callers to appropriate parties
- Initiate service requests
- Respond to emails from the public and City departments
- Assist and backup other staff members
- Perform basic administrative duties including typing, record keeping, faxing, filing, and ordering supplies
- Provide support as needed during emergencies if needed

- Ability to meet the required physical standards for this position
- Ability to pass extensive background process and pre-employment drug and audio screenings
