As a Wastewater Plant Operator I, you spend your day operating and maintaining essential equipment, troubleshooting issues, taking wastewater samples and tests, ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the building and grounds at the Wastewater Plant. You are constantly on your toes and ready for any new and unexpected challenges that may arise in the city. When you are not out in the city, you generally participate in aiding knowledge of wastewater treatment operations, lab operations, wastewater sampling and recoding of results. You enjoy being helpful and have no problem providing assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed. The city needs someone like you!

Qualifications For a Wastewater Plant Operator i
- Required Education: High school diploma, GED or equivalency
- Education Preference: "A" Certification in Wastewater from the Texas Commission on Environmental
- Quality (TCEQ). Preferred Class "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Educational Substitute: May substitute two years of experience with TCEQ approved education.
- Experience Preference: One (1) year of Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations, Maintenance and repairs.
- Must have a current valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
- Achieve TCEQ Class "D" Wastewater Operator's License within first (1) year of employment.
- Achieve TCEQ Class "C" Wastewater Operator's License within three (3) years of employment.
- Achieve TCEQ Class "B" Wastewater Operator's License within five (5) years of employment.
