PRETREATMENT INSPECTOR

The Pretreatment Inspector position earns competitive pay of $ 18.95hr. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PRETREATMENT INSPECTOR

As a Maintenance Operator, you ensure maintenance of all pretreatment program requirements, including industrial waste surveys, long term monitoring plan, head works analysis and industrial user permitting. Your work typically involves maintaining a positive working relationship with regulatory agencies, regulated industries, customers, and the public. Your job is essential to the city, you schedule pretreatment activities, including monitoring/sampling program for compliance of regulated industries with permit requirements. You are constantly on your toes and ready for any new and unexpected challenges that may arise in the city. You enjoy being helpful and have no problem aiding and support to other divisions within the department as needed. The city needs someone like you with skills in pretreatment, and you finding genuine enjoyment in what you do!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A PRETREATMENT INSPECTOR

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field.
    • Education Preference: Bachelor's Degree with a major in chemistry and/or biology.
    • Educational Substitute: Additional related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • One (1) year as an inspector in the pretreatment of commercial and industrial wastes including environmental inspection, sampling, enforcement experience.
    • Preferred: Two (2) years of experience in the related fields.
  • Applicant will be subject to a complete background investigation. Incomplete, inaccurate and/or failure to report information will cause the applicant rejection from consideration.
  • Applicant must take and pass a pre-employment drug test administered by the City of Edinburg at the City's expense.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred.
  • Must possess a valid appropriate driver's license with acceptable driving history.
  • Must obtain "Class D" Wastewater Operator's License within one year from hire.
  • Must obtain "Class C" Wastewater Operator's License within three years from hire.
  • Must obtain "Class B" Wastewater Operator's License within six (6) years from hire.
  • The applicant is required to have visual acuity to perform.
