A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PLANNER II
As a Planner II, you spend your day providing specialized professional and technical assistance and interpretation of City codes, regulations and ordinances. Your work typically involves assisting in the preparation and updating of the City's Comprehensive Plan and Unified Development Code. Assists in preparing budget recommendations for the Director of Planning & Zoning; supervising the review of building permits; working with various municipalities and other public agencies, and other duties as required. You are constantly on your toes and ready for any new and unexpected challenges that may arise in the city.
You enjoy being helpful and have no problem providing assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed. The city needs someone like you with great people skills in providing excellent customer service to all our customers, and finds genuine enjoyment in what you do!

Qualifications For a Planner Ii
- Required Education: Bachelor Degree in Urban Planning or in a planning related discipline and AICP eligibility.
- Preferred Education: Master's Degree in planning, government or other planning related discipline with appropriate experience.
- Additional education and experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted for the above education requirement.
- Preferred Experience: Five (5) years' experience, up to and including, eight (8) years' experience in municipal planning and public administration or related field.
- Must have a current valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety with a satisfactory driving record.
- AICP certification preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
