A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CULTURAL ARTS ASSISTANT I
As a Cultural Arts Assistant l, you spend your day providing high quality service in the Arts department. Your work typically involves registering students, issue materials, keep records of new registrants; assist with cultural arts services. Organizing and providing assistance to your supervisor with the maintenance of cultural arts programs, events, and festivals generally fill up your day. Your job is essential to the city, you provide assistance to residents with event information, outreaches, event setups and staffing of event stations including rental venues. You are constantly on your toes and ready for any new and unexpected challenges that may arise in the city. This can include assisting with organizing receptions for new artwork exhibits, book releases, and cultural arts receptions. When you aren't assisting at the library, you generally are assenting in the coordination of a wide variety of art-related programs. You also ensure assist in the design, planning, installation, and maintenance of art exhibitions. You enjoy being helpful and have no problem providing assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed. The city needs someone like you with skills in customer service, organization, and you find genuine enjoyment in what you do!
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CULTURAL ARTS ASSISTANT I
- Required Education: High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalency
- Education Preferred: Associates Degree
- No library experience required
- Preferred: One (1) year of cultural event planning experience
- Intermediate computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment; includes Excel, Word, Publisher, database management, and record keeping.
- Bilingual English/Spanish required.
- Must have a current and valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety
