The City of Edina is currently accepting applications for Summer Seasonal Recreation Positions.  Program dates, hours and wages vary by position. Must be at least 16 years of age and some positions require you to be 18 years or older. Hourly varies by position.


Seasonal Referral Incentive:  Receive a $200 incentive when you refer someone who works the entire season in one of the following positions listed below. Eligible employees will receive the lump sum payment after the person they refer works the entire season, with satisfactory performance and no unexcused absences.

Recreation Leader (Program Instructor II)

Recreation leaders will work as a team to plan and implement age-appropriate activities. Leaders will assist with planning weekly arts/crafts, games, and natured based activities for children ages 4 to 12. Scheduled work hours will be Monday-Thursday from 8am-4:15p.m. at various Edina Park locations. Employment dates will be from the end of May through mid-August with programs starting the week of June 10.

The pay range is $14.63 - $15.29 per hour.


Recreation Site Leader (Program Instructor III)

Site Leaders will work as a team with other recreation leaders to plan and implement age-appropriate activities. Site leaders will oversee weekly arts/crafts, games, and natured based activities for children ages 4 to 12 are implemented. Scheduled work hours will be Monday-Thursday from 8am-4:15p.m. at various Edina Park locations. Employment dates will be from the end of May through mid-August with programs starting the week of June 10.

The pay range is $15.70-$17.19 per hour.


Recreation Program Specialist (Program Instructor III)

Recreation Program Specialists will work as a team with the Recreation Supervisors and Recreation Leaders to run summer park programs. Program specialists will be involved with leading staff training, weekly meetings, and ensuring that age-appropriate activities are being offered at the parks. Program Specialists may have areas of expertise such as Activities & Games Specialist, Arts & Nature Specialist, or Travelin’ Teens Specialist. Scheduled work hours will be Monday-Thursday from 8am-4:15p.m. at various Edina Park locations. Employment dates will be from the end of May through mid-August with programs starting the week of June 10.

The pay range is $17.19-$18.69 per hour.


Recreation Program Assistant (Program Assistant III)

Recreation Program Assistants will assist the Recreation Supervisor in the planning, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of all aspects of park programming including the Fab 4 & 5 programs, nature-based programs, and Pros 2.0 park programs and Travelin’ Teens. The coordinator will assist in the training, mentoring, and scheduling of seasonal staff. Scheduled work hours will be mainly Monday-Thursday from 8am-4:15p.m. at various Edina Park locations including Edina City Hall. Employment dates will be from the end of May through mid-August with programs starting the week of June 10.

The pay range is $20.03-23.04 per hour.

Qualifications vary by position, but these positions require excellent customer service, be able to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and have excellent communication skills and be self-motivated.

Minimum Age Requirements: Must be at least 16 years of age. Some positions require you to be 18 years or older.

Physical Requirements:  All jobs will require occasional lift and carry of supplies up to 10 pounds.

Important Dates:

  • Interviews will start early March and will continue weekly until positions are filled.

  • Applications close March 31.

  • New hire & Rehire paperwork is due April 21.

  • City Wide Seasonal Staff Orientation takes place the third week of May.

  • Job specific orientation will take place the week of June 3

Program dates: Monday-Thursday June 10 – August 16

If you get offered a position this summer, you will need to have a bank account for your pay checks to be directly deposited into. You will also be required to fill out paperwork online using NEO GOV. An email will be sent out to you with a link and instructions. All paperwork must be filled out by the deadline, or we will not move forward with employment. Please mark the dates above on your calendar, job specific orientation information will be sent out in late April.
