What are the responsibilities and job description for the Planner position at City of Edgerton?
The City of Edgerton is looking for a Planner to join our Community Development team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people and helping shape the future of a growing community.
The Planner reviews planning and zoning applications, works directly with developers and design professionals, assists residents and contractors with code questions, and prepares materials for the City’s Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, and City Council.
What You'll Do
- Review rezoning requests, special use permits, site development plans, plats, lot splits, sign permits, and other planning and zoning applications for compliance with City codes and ordinances.
- Review plans and specifications and identify potential issues or areas that need to be addressed.
- Meet with developers, property owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss the development process and code requirements.
- Prepare staff reports, correspondence, agendas, minutes, and presentations for Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals meetings.
- Assist with public hearing requirements, including notices and advertising.
- Answer questions from residents, contractors, developers, City staff, and elected officials regarding zoning and development codes.
- Research and recommend updates to the City's Unified Development Code and related policies and guidelines.
- Coordinate the City's Land Disturbance Regulations.
- Process and issue building and sign permits as needed.
- Serve as the City's ADA Coordinator.
- Represent the City on various local, regional, and state boards and organizations.
- Make public presentations as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in city, urban, or regional planning, architecture, engineering, construction management, business administration, public administration, or a related field is preferred.
Two or more years of progressively responsible related experience is preferred. A combination of education, training, and experience that provides the knowledge and skills necessary to perform the job may also qualify.
A valid driver's license and insurable driving record are required.
Work Environment
This position works in both an office and field environment. The position may occasionally require evening, weekend, holiday, or overtime work, as well as attendance at overnight seminars or conferences.
Pay: $57,328.00 - $85,992.00 per year
